As far as Salsa Verde goes, there seem to be a lot of recipes out there. Like most foods. But this is what I usually tend to do:

Don’t miss this artist – Christina Entcheva

May 4th, 2009 — 6:17pm

So I know I haven’t updated my blog in a while. Forgive me. To make up for it, I want to share a truly creative person with you.

Her name is Christina Entcheva. If you haven’t had the privilege of enjoying her art yet, go check out her website and her etsy shop. Seriously. Now. I wasn’t kidding.

I met Christina in third grade (…?… I think third… It’s been a while.) She was just as much an artist then as she is now — plus ~15 years experience and growth, of course. We all knew she was a gifted artist then; and when you go to her website and see her illustrations, you’ll know what I’m talking about.

Her work is quite ingenious and her natural talent is rare. So go enjoy her work. Buy some prints. Buy some buttons. Beg her to create more.

There are a few more hours left for the giveaway at Awakened Aesthetic. Don’t miss this.

So far today…

February 12th, 2009 — 1:06pm
  • Twittered
  • Cleaned up 3 instances of cat puke (one of which was on my favorite blanket)
  • Checked my email
  • Burnt my bacon
  • Reclaimed 3 wind-blown trash cans from down the street
  • Skinned a chicken
  • Became a vegetarian
  • Un-became a vegetarian
  • Twittered
  • Definitely not the most productive morning I’ve ever had…

Number of things crossed off “to do list”? .5 (skinning the chicken was only half of the battle toward a successful dinner)

    …of about 14…

    Pachelbel Rant

    January 26th, 2009 — 4:52pm

For the record: I love Pachelbel’s Cannon. (And my brother, sister and I do quite a lovely rendition of it if I do say so myself).

    Josh & Rachael’s Wedding Day

    January 22nd, 2009 — 4:30pm

On the day Josh (my brother-in-law) and Rachael (my friend) got married, I blogged. :-)

When I woke up in the morning, the idea just hit me that it might be fun to keep a running log of the day to remember it by. And it’d make a pretty fun blog post. So I cued it up in my drafts and used my iPhone to update it throughout the day. I did get a big lazy toward the end… not so much lazy as forgetful and there just wasn’t the time. These aren’t all the pictures, just some that tell the story. Continue reading »

    Anyone like puzzles?

    January 16th, 2009 — 2:05pm

Here’s a puzzle one of my coworkers brought to lunch. As soon as he put it in front of me…that was it. Forget about the food, I need to finish this. So I just sat in the conference room until I finished it. And I didn’t let any one help me. Because I’m one of those. I’m one of those puzzle people that won’t put it down until it’s done, by me. No help. No exceptions. And, yes, I did finish it.

So I share it with you. Hopefully there are some other ‘puzzle people’ out there. Enjoy!

    ————————————-
There are thirty books in the Bible in this paragraph. Can you find them? This is a most remarkable puzzle. It was found by a gentleman in an airplane seat pocket, on a flight from Los Angeles to Honolulu , keeping him occupied for hours. He enjoyed it so much; he passed it on to some friends. One friend from Illinois worked on this while fishing from his john boat. Another friend studied it while playing his banjo. Elaine Taylor, a columnist friend, was so intrigued by it she mentioned it in her weekly newspaper column. Another friend judges the job of solving this puzzle so involving, she brews a cup of tea to help her nerves. There will be some names that are really easy to spot. That’s a fact. Some people, however, will soon find themselves in a jam, especially since the book names are not necessarily capitalized. Truthfully, from answers we get, we are forced to admit it usually takes a minister or scholar to see some of them at the worst. Research has shown that something in our genes is responsible for the difficulty we have in seeing the books in the paragraph. During a recent fund raising event, which featured this puzzle, Alpha Del Phi lemonade booth set a new sales record. The local paper, The Chronicle, surveyed over 200 patrons who reported that this puzzle was one of the most difficult they had ever seen. As Daniel Hummana humbly puts it, ‘the books are all right here in plain view hidden from sight.’ Those able to find all of them will hear great lamentations from those who have to be shown. One revelation that may help is that books like Timothy and Samuel may occur without their numbers. Also, keep in mind, that punctuation and spaces in the middle are normal. A chipper attitude will help you compete really well against those who claim to know the answers. Remember, there is no need for a mad exodus, there really are thirty books of the Bible lurking somewhere in this paragraph waiting to be found.

    January 13th, 2009 — 5:43pm

Almost forgot! Dan and I finally joined an affordable gym near us. Tonight will be our first visit to this particular one. I’ll let you know how it goes . . .

I hope it’s exciting. Or else I guess it won’t be much of a post!

    One of those weeks.

    January 13th, 2009 — 5:39pm

Ok. So I’m a little behind in my blogging . . . at least it didn’t take me a year this time to remember! And I still have that post about my friend’s wedding with pictures that I promised some of you. I had a hard time posting the photos for some reason . . . and then I forgot. Maybe I’ll try again later tonight.

Anyway. It seems like this may be one of those weeks that I end up at church every day. Yes, I know there are people that spend waaaaaaay more time at church than I do. I am hardly complaining. I’d love to spend every day and all day at church like I used to. It’s just that I only work at church Wednesdays and Fridays right now, and then I’m there for the weekend services. So that’s what I plan for in my weekly schedule . . . not that I have an actual “weekly schedule” . . . I should work on that . . . But back to my point. So when I’m thinking through my weekly “schedule” I don’t plan for the 20 min drive there and back, and the task in between. Yesterday I had to go in to redo a postcard for our IMMERSE worship event. (IMMERSE is our young adults ministry…check out my logo :-) I may be bored with certain aspects of my job, but I am very excited about some of the work I’ve gotten the privilege to be a part of). Then I had choir practice. Then today I forgot I had a lunch meeting at a Ruby Tuesdays by church. Tomorrow I work, Thursday something is bound to come up, and Friday I work.

Anyway. It sounds like I’m complaining. But I’m not. Just sayin’. Maybe I should just put some surprise visits to church into my “schedule”. Who woulda thunk it? Planning ahead . . .

Do you like spending a lot of time at church?
